Files and folders · PREPARATION GUIDE
Bring photos from your computer
Your collection may already be in folders on a computer, external drive or downloaded archive. Keep a safe copy, then prepare the files you want to bring.
Make the files available locally
Locate the photos and videos on your computer or attached drive. If you use a cloud-synced folder, download the actual files rather than leaving online-only placeholders. Keep an independent source copy.
Extract archives first
Unpack ZIP archives on your computer. Memory Temple’s desktop importer does not extract ZIPs. Keep accompanying metadata files with their media and avoid renaming the source folders during an import.
Check space in both places
Allow enough free space on the computer for working copies and extraction. In the import area, review remaining Memory Temple storage, including existing usage and room for originals and previews. A listed storage package is not proof that it is active on your account.
Start small when imports open
Use your existing Memory Temple account in the import area. Choose a few files or a small folder first, check the review screen and then start. Review the result before choosing a larger collection.
Keep the source available
Leave the browser open, keep the computer awake and keep external drives connected. If interrupted, return to the import area and reselect the same files or folder so the source can be checked before saved progress is reused.
Verify the completed collection
Read the final report, check skipped or unresolved items and open a representative selection of originals. Keep source copies until you are confident the import is complete and correct.
Take your time. Keep your copies.
For a large desktop import, keep the browser open and the computer awake. Closing the browser or letting the computer sleep stops progress; uploading does not continue in the background.
If interrupted, return to the import area and reselect the same source files or folder. The source must be checked before saved progress can be reused.
Review available account storage before starting. Check the completed import report and open representative originals before deleting any source copies. There is no need to rush this last step.
